When I was in university, I did some readings related to gender and women's studies, feminism, and sociology.
Some of the things I learned about were: trafficking, child prostitution, child sex abuse images, domestic violence, foot binding, FGM, access to healthcare and surgery. Also, sex work and coercion.
I also have studied/read about a number of women's issues from a Christian perspective and a feminist perspective. And sociology etc.

basic access to surgery etc, such as obstetric repairs has been patchy in the past. And access to surgery is a pretty basic "women's issue"
